A 40-year-old man is to stand trial accused of raping a woman who had just arrived in Northern Ireland.
Audrius Silinskas was charged at Newry Magistrates Court with five offences arising from an incident on 15 August last year.
The Lithuanian, with an address on Castleblaney Street, Newtownhamilton, faces three counts of rape, making a threat to kill the woman “intending that she would fear” the threat would be carried out, and assaulting her with intent to commit a sexual offence.
None of the alleged facts were opened in court yesterday but previous hearings were told that police were alerted after the complainant had fled naked from a house in Co Armagh.
