Cincinnati International adopts passenger flow management system

Working with technology firm, Veovo, the airport hopes to improve customer experience and make long-term operational enhancements
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is collaborating with London-based technology provider, Veovo to expand data input at the hub.
The facility was the first in the US to implement ‘internet of things’ (IoT) sensor equipment at the security checkpoint to help monitor wait times.
Data drawn from the project allowed CVG and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to make decisions regarding staff scheduling – improving the passenger experience in process.

Riga completes construction of second taxiway and runway renovation

The innovations are set to improve the efficiency of airport operations and reduce CO2 emissions
Riga International has recently completed the construction of its second rapid-exit taxiway, as well as the renovation of part of its runway.
The Cohesion Fund Project ‘Development of Secure and Environmentally friendly infrastructure at Riga Airport’ began last summer.
By adding an extra taxiway, the movement of aircraft to and from the runway and in the taxiing area is set to be shortened, reducing the amount of time and fuel consumed in land manoeuvres. The total cost of these works came to €2.5m (£2.1m).
Air Partner firm Redline secures six business contracts

Including both UK and International customers, the agreements total £1m in revenues
Air Partner company and leading provider of global security solutions, Redline has secured six business contracts with UK and international customers, including airports, public transport operators, regulatory bodies and government agencies.
Four of the three agreements were renewals or extensions, including a three-year arrangement with Edinburgh Airport for the company’s x-ray threat image recognition training (TIRT) system. According to the firm, the screening technology can detect any threat, regardless of its size.
A two-year indenture was also set up with Teesside International for a digital security management system (SeMS), allowing managers to assess and identify risks in a constantly changing environment.
Total begins production of SAF in France

In April, the company began supplying French airports with sustainable aviation fuel
Energy company, Total has begun producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at its La Mede biorefinery in Southern France and Oudalle facility situated near Le Havre.
Made from cooking oil, the product started fuelling French airports last month.
The company will also be able to produce SAF at its Grandpuits platform, located south-east of Paris, from 2024.

“By producing sustainable aviation fuel at our French sites today, we are able to respond to strong demand from an aviation industry looking to reduce its carbon footprint, while adapting our industrial resources,” said Bernard Pinatel, president of refining and chemicals at Total.
The company will be responsible for the design, supply, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the solution situated at the Malaysian facility
Lisbon-based multinational technology company, Vision-Box, has been awarded a project by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) for the implementation of a biometric management system at KL International Airport.
The firm’s Orchestra Digital Identity Management Platform is contactless technology that helps enhance passenger safety in response to the current global pandemic. It is also set to improve customer experience, by enabling identification, clearance and safety monitoring software.
