UPS worker killed in Bridgewater hit-and-run on Route 28 View Comments BRIDGEWATER - A 28-year-old UPS worker from Plainfield was killed on Route 28 early Thursday after being struck by the cab of a tractor-trailer, which fled the scene. Police are trying to locate the driver who struck Robert C. Cepeda, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson. Cepeda had just gotten off an NJ Transit commuter bus about 2 a.m. along with two other co-workers and was on his way to work at the UPS facility on Route 28 and Chimney Rock Road. Cepada was walking toward the 24-hour Wawa across Route 28 when he was struck by an eastbound brown or red truck cab with no trailer attached, Robertson said.
