Man dies days after being shot inside his vehicle from another vehicle, police say

Updated: 5:10 PM EDT Apr 18, 2021 A person who was shot inside their car on a busy Asheville highway Thursday has died, according to police.Asheville Police Department said it happened around 2:45 p.m. Thursday on Smokey Park Highway.(Video Above: 4 shootings, 1 deadly, 2 involving road rage happened in 24 hours in Asheville) Police said Sunday that Nathaniel Leon Crosby, 31, of Weaverville, died of his injuries.A person of interest has been identified and located with the assistance of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, according to police.The highway was briefly shut down at the time of the shooting.Police say this is the second homicide in Asheville in 2021.

Updated: 5:37 PM EDT Apr 15, 2021 A vehicle-to-vehicle shooting on a busy Asheville highway Thursday left one person with life-threatening wounds, according to police.A Twitter post by the Asheville Police Department at about 2:45 p.m. said officers were at the scene and that both east and westbound lanes were closed.A post 10 minutes later said the victim was in a vehicle and shot by someone in another vehicle.No other information was immediately released.Just before 5 p.m., police tweeted that a person of interest had been identified and taken into custody.All lanes of the highway were back open after 3:30 p.m., according to a tweet from police.

The sheriff s office says a shootout erupted on Monday morning during a traffic stop in the Nebo community. One of the car s occupants was killed, while another occupant and a deputy were injured in the shooting. The injured suspect is now in jail under a 200-thousand-dollar bond for being an accessory to attempted murder.
