Commemorating Maserati’s debut in Formula 1 in 1954 is the Ghibli and Levante F Tributo Special Edition. Maserati started racing 95 years ago. On April 21, 1926, the Tipo 26 was born, the first racing car to carry the Trident logo. Driven by Alfieri Maserati, it won the 1,500 CC Targa Florio that year.
But it wasn’t until January 17, 1954, that Maserati debuted on the F1 world stage with legendary Argentinian racing driver Juan Manuel Fangio behind the wheel. Fangio eventually won the 1957 World Championship of Drivers with a Maserati 250F. Celebrating Fangio’s F1 win is the Ghibli and Levante F Tributo Special Edition. And yes, the F is for Fangio.

Maserati used its platform at the Shanghai Auto Show to introduce a pair of special edition models honouring the brand’s motorsport roots and its most iconic driver, Juan Manuel Fangio.
The F Tributo special series – F for “Fangio” – is available on the Levante crossover and Ghibli sedan in two colours (plus a touch of yellow) that hold symbolic value to the brand.
Rosso Tributo is a classic Italian blood red that’s been worn by Maserati, and many Italian motorsports teams, for most of its history. The five-time F1 World Drivers’ Championship winner, Fangio famously took on the F1 circuit in a Maserati 250F sporting a red and yellow livery. For the F Tributo, Maserati nods to this feat as well, with yellow brake callipers and wheel trim set in black 21-inch wheels.
The Levante F Tributo rides on Anteo 21-inch wheels finished in black, while the Ghibli F Tributo comes with 21-inch Titano wheels in glossy black. A special glossy black badge on the wheel arch and a body-color trident logo on the C-pillar round off the exterior embellishments.
Inside, the interior features red and yellow stitching that matches the exterior and black full-grain Pieno Fiore leather.
Since the F Tributo Special Edition series is an appearance package, there are no performance enhancements. Under the hood, the Maserati Ghibli and Levante are powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 rated at 345 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. No pricing or availability details have been announced.

MODENA - Maserati is honouring its illustrious motor racing past with new special editions based on the Ghibli and Levante.
More specifically the new F Tributo models celebrate the Italian brandâs 1954 F1 debut, with the 250F driven by Juan Manuel Fangio that went on to secure many victories. F, but the way, stands for Fangio while Tributo is a clear homage to the glorious victories of the past.
The special series is available on the Ghibli and Levante in two exclusive colours - Rosso Tributo and Azzurro Tributo.

It’s been exactly 95 years since Maserati made its racing debut back in 1926 with the Tipo26, which went on to win the 1,500 cc class at the Targa Florio with Alfieri Maserati behind the wheel. Some 28 years later, the Italian carmaker also made its Formula 1 debut with the 250F race car, driven by the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio. 6 photos
The pair achieved many victories together, which Maserati is looking to pay tribute to by using two special edition versions of the Ghibli sedan and Levante SUV, dubbed F Tributo (F for Fangio). These two race-inspired cars can be admired at Auto Shanghai 2021.
