The new Mississippi Buc-ee s will be off I-10 in Harrison County, which borders the Gulf of Mexico.  The first Buc-ee s opened in Lake Jackson back in 1982 and now pales in comparison to the bucktoothed behemoths that now loom over highways. Buc-ee s currently has 40 locations open in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and its home state of Texas. Plans for Buc-ee’s on the Coast July 7, 2021 The Texas-based convenient store and ultimate road trip stop will soon be breaking ground in South Mississippi. In addition to the $50 million invested in the Buc-ee’s Mississippi location off the Menge Avenue exit, $15 million will go into infrastructure improvements, expanding the Menge Avenue overpass from two lanes to five. The overpass will expand in every direction to adapt for all the expected traffic to come. Harrison County Development Commission Executive Director Bill Lavers said, “We’re standing at the Northwest corner of I-10 and Menge Ave, it’s going to be the future home of Buc-ee’s, which will be about between a 70 and 80,000 square foot convenient store. It’ll drive about five million visitors to Mississippi on an annual basis. It’s a 50-million-dollar investment and over 200 jobs paying more than $15 an hour with full benefits.”
