Man gets prison time for jail attack | News, Sports, Jobs

newsroom@reviewonline.com LISBON An East Liverpool man who took a broken broom handle after another inmate at the county jail was sentenced to 11 months in prison during a sentencing hearing in Common Pleas Court on Monday. William L. Gist, 53, Beaver Street, East Liverpool, had previously pleaded guilty to possession of a deadly weapon while under detention, assault and two counts of violating a protection order. He and his defense attorney, James Lanzo, explained that the weapon charge at the jail was not unprovoked. Lanzo said video surveillance leading up to the incident shows an inmate had taken the food from another inmate. Words were exchanged and Gist took the matter into his own hands.

Male Associates to provide engineering services for the city’s 2021 Streets Resurfacing Program. The resolution approved at City Hall notes the Latham firm is among engineering firms chosen by the New York State County Highway Superintendents Association through a Local Design Services Agreement Program and a resultant consultant list. Officials said the street resurfacing program includes milling and resurfacing of selected city streets, and installation of handicapped accessible ramps where necessary on each resurfaced street. Proposed 2021 streets to be resurfaced are: Market Street from East Fulton Street to Washington Street; Monroe Street from E. Construction Resumes On Route 66 In Downtown Flagstaff Monday Read More News at Construction will resume on Route 66 related to the Rio de Flag bridge replacement next week. Starting Monday through Sunday, May 9th, the east and westbound lanes will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the south side of the road. Drivers will not be able to make a left turn onto Humphreys Street from Route 66, or at Humphreys and Santa Fe Avenue. Drivers needing to access Humphreys Street should use San Francisco via Columbus Avenue. In addition starting Monday and lasting through Sunday, May 23rd, ADOT will reduce the speed limit to 25 miles-per-hour between Butler Avenue and Beaver Street and will include a 12-foot vehicle width restriction.
