ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Creekside High School educator Alicia “Ali” Pressel on Wednesday was named St. Johns County 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year.
“I’m very excited. I’m overwhelmed. And it’s been a whirlwind 24 hours, but I’m the amount of community support the outpouring of support. I’ve just been very touched by that,” Pressel told News4Jax Thursday.
Pressel and other educators were honored during a ceremony hosted by INK! (Investing in Kids) held at school district headquarters while a virtual production of the event ran online.

Flagler Schools and Flagler Auditorium announced their upcoming Flagler Schools Teacher and Employee of the Year Gala, honoring this year’s teachers and employees of the year, as well as their Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year.
The updated date of the Gala is Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Flagler Auditorium. While this year’s event is not open to the public, they will be offering a livestream of the gala, which will be available to view on the Flagler Schools website. The presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m.
During the event, the District’s Teacher and Employee of the Year will be named. They will then go on to represent Flagler Schools in the statewide program.

Caden Cohen, a fifth-grader at Central Riverside Elementary,
Charlotte Kessler, an eighth-grader at LaVilla School of the Arts, and
Jagger Leach, a senior at Stanton College Preparatory School, got the news in front of their teachers and classmates.
Tomorrow’s Leaders recognizes youth who exemplify the philosophies of King through leadership, community volunteerism and civic responsibility.
“Our children are our future and these students in particular have written essays that came from their hearts and from the impact that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has made on their lives,” Curry said. “It is an honor for me to congratulate and surprise these deserving Duval County students who work hard every day in their classrooms, their homes and in their communities.”
