DFC assets set to be monetised Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday proposed a ‘record’ allocation of ₹1.10 lakh crore for the Indian Railways in the Budget, with a total capital expenditure outlay of ₹2.15 lakh crore for the upcoming financial year.
With a 33% increase in total capital expenditure for 2021-22 over ₹1.61 lakh crore (revised estimates) for 2020-21, the Railways said funds would be utilised to boost ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission’ and towards completion of vital infrastructure projects, capacity building, passenger amenities and safety enhancement.
Special loan According to Budget documents, during the year, the Railways was provided ₹79,398 crore as ‘Special Loan for COVID-related resource gap’ and towards liquidating the adverse balance that occurred in Public Account in 2019-2020.

Rajappan, a differently abled man from Kaippuzhamuttu, near Kumarakom, Kottayam. For several years, Mr. Rajappan has been earning a living by collecting plastic bottles floating on the lake and the streams linked to it.
During the speech, Mr. Modi spoke about an elderly person, “who makes us realise our responsibilities. In Kottayam of Kerala, there is an elderly ‘divyang,’ N.S. Rajappan Sahab. He cannot walk due to paralysis, but this has not affected his commitment to cleanliness,” the Prime Minister said.
Over 90% children receive polio drops in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi districts

While 1.42 lakh (94%) of the 1.51 lakh children received polio drops in Dakshina Kannada, 73,636 (99.44 %) of the 74,049 children aged between 0 and five received the vaccine in Udupi on Sunday.
The mop-up round to administer polio drops for the left-out children under the drive will be held for two and three days in rural and urban areas, respectively, from Monday.
Among the taluks in Dakshina Kannada, Belthangady taluk saw good response at the designated booths with 20,145 (102 %) children turning up to receive polio drops, which was more than the estimate of 19,659 children. Similarly, 21,609 children (101 %) received polio drops in Puttur taluk, which was more than the estimate of 21,456 children.

‘Letters sent to addresses of those who live outside the city’
None of the farmer leaders, who had been asked by Delhi Police to join the investigations last week, turned up till Sunday evening, said an officer.
He said notices were sent to 44 farmers’ leaders to join the probe on violation of terms and conditions for the tractor rally on Republic Day.
“We again called them up, asking them to join the investigation at the earliest. We are waiting for their reply. On Sunday, we have sent notices to 70 tractor owners after the vehicles were identified from the footage that we got from the public and CCTVs,” the officer added.
