Approximately 500 troops belonging to the Romanian Army, the United States of America and Poland will train together, between March 16 and March 24, during the Justice Eagle 21.1 exercise, according to a press release sent on Friday by the Information and Public Relations Department of the 9th Mechanized Brigade Marasesti.
According to the same source, the exercise, which will take place at the Secondary Training Centre for Combat of the Romanian Land Forces, in Smardan, Galati County, aims to increase the interoperability of NATO member armed forces: the US, Poland and Romania, maintaining the joint deployment and training capability by exercising related logistical support, developing a regional environment conducive to multinational military cooperation and increasing the professionalism of the military.
Lt. Col. Lourdes Guevarra, chief of the Office of Army Gender and Development, honored all the women in the Army whom she said “polevaulted the impetus of the multifaceted roles of women in development and nation-building” especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have been pressed with our emotional and mental health during the time of pandemic. But the limitations at hand never made our potentials limited. As a matter of fact, some women led the froontline against the COVId-19 and that brought a new definition of women climbing up the ladder towards a top-level participation in the military management system,” she said.

A guard of honour turned out yesterday for the funeral of a 99-year-old World War II veteran who died last week in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Choi: Sent off in style
Maj Gen Thiwa Daewa, commander of the 41st Military Circle and head of the provincial War Veterans Office, led the guard of honour at the funeral in Nop Phi Tham district of Choi Jan-iad, who died on Jan 18.
Many local villagers were also there to pay their respects.
Choi served as a regular soldier in the army s 15th Artillery Battalion in 1941 when it unsuccessfully tried to prevent Japanese forces from landing in the province.
