The summit is expected to focus on expanding cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and forming a coronavirus vaccine initiative to effectively deal with the pandemic

At the First Quad Leaders Virtual Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the agenda of the summit, including COVID-19 vaccine intiative and climate change, makes it a force for global good. Opening his address, the Prime Minister said that the four nations attending the summit - India, the US, Australia and Japan - are joined by shared democratic values and commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing an election rally in Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground, criticised the ruling Trinamool Congress government, suggesting that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her cadre have betrayed West Bengal.
“Mamata Didi had come to power with the slogan of ‘Ma-Maati-Maanush’ [mother, land and people],” Modi said. “But what has changed in Bengal? Has there been any change in schools and colleges? Have the youth got jobs?”
He further criticised the West Bengal chief minister, suggesting she was not the same person who had fought against the Left Front government in the state and that her “remote control” was somewhere else.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that government policies would be aimed towards raising productivity and cutting down on imports in the farm sector, reported PTI. He claimed that the Centre’s holistic approach towards agriculture, animal husbandry and fishing was the reason behind the sector registering growth even amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Modi was addressing the sixth meeting of the governing council of planning body NITI Aayog.
