COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A year after a use of force incident that involved throwing a woman to the ground by her hair, all of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies listed on the scene have either been fired or resigned.
However, the deputies’ supervisors remain in positions where they may review future use of force incidents.
A WIS investigation into RCSD Defensive Action Reports, S.C. Criminal Justice Academy records, and interviews with those involved show a mixed record of discipline after the January 2020 incident.

The next Fayette County Board of Zoning Appeals meeting that will likely decide if a conditional-use permit will be approved to allow a solar farm, “Fayette Solar,” to be created in Perry Township is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.
The company that would be designing and operating the proposed Fayette Solar farm is National Grid Renewables. The farm is proposed to be located on 435 acres of land rented from a local landowner.

A conditional-use permit that would allow a solar farm, “Fayette Solar,” to be created in Perry Township was scheduled to be decided on during a Fayette County Board of Zoning Appeals meeting earlier this week, but the decision on whether to allow the solar farm or not was postponed.

Santa Will Spread Cheer in Maybrook on Christmas Eve
Pandemic or no pandemic, the Maybrook Fire Department is seeing to it that the kids in Maybrook and Rock Tavern have a merry Christmas this year. The department says that they have reached out to the North Pole and Santa himself says that he will take time out of his busy schedule to spread a little cheer within the community.
Santa Claus will arrive on the morning of Christmas Eve and will be riding around on top of an antique engine being escorted by the firefighting and police department elves between the hours of 10AM and 1PM. Due to the current circumstances they will not be able to stop and they will not be able to ride down all the streets but they have selected a route of travel so if they’re not coming down your street you can still be part of the festivities.
