VIRUS spikes on POW

KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center recorded two new positive COVID-19 cases on Monday. One of the cases was related to travel and one was determined to be community spread, according to a Monday update to the EOC s data dashboard. Two cases also were recorded on Sunday, according to the dashboard. Both cases were related to travel, and one case involved an individual who was not staying in Ketchikan. As of Monday afternoon, 13 of Ketchikan s 433 total cases were still considered active. Results were pending from 28 local COVID-19 tests — down from 30 on Friday, according to the dashboard. The local test positivity rate was 1.70% on Monday.

(Photo by Angela Denning/KFSK) Music fans in Petersburg will be treated to more outdoor concerts this year in what’s called the Moving Music Concert Series. The series is a partnership between the Petersburg Arts Council and the Petersburg Borough’s Parks and Rec Department. Sarah Hanson-Hofstetter is a singer songwriter with the arts council and Stephanie Payne is the Director of Parks and Rec. They spoke with KFSK’s Angela Denning about the concert series and the plans for this summer.

by Tyler Durden Something strange is happening in the US economy.  A McDonald s in Tampa, Florida, offers $50 to show up for a job interview. Even with free money plastered in big, bold black letters on its menu sign, facing a busy roadway, there are reportedly still no takers.  Business Insider spoke with Blake Casper, the franchisee who owns the fast-food restaurant in Tampa, who said the idea to hand out free money is an attempt to secure workers. He said he would do whatever it takes to hire workers.   At this point, if we can t keep our drive-thrus moving, then I ll pay $50 for an interview, said Casper, who owns 60 McDonald s restaurants across the Tampa-St. Petersburg Metropolitan Area.
