GlaxoSmithKline is delaying its testing, after early phase trials showed poor efficacy in protecting the critical population of those over age 49.
Sanofi (ticker: SNY) and Glaxo (GSK) say they are reformulating their shots to boost its performance in the older group which has suffered three-times the hospitalization rate of younger Covid patients, according to U.S. data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Sanofi stock fell 3% in early trading Friday, to $48.28, while Glaxo was off 1% to $37.63. In their announcement Friday, the two vaccine partners attributed the low immune response in older adults to an insufficient concentration of the antigen that stimulates our body to produce protective antibodies.

In a research note, Jefferies analyst Peter Welford has maintained his recommendation on the stock with a Buy rating. The target price is lowered from CHF 385 to CHF 360.
