On The Road 1/29: 2021 Ford F-150 Limited Hybrid

On The Road 1/29: 2021 Ford F-150 Limited Hybrid × By Peter Perrotta Back in 1974, James Hartzell, a hard-working ad guy, coined the advertising jingle: “baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet.” That ad campaign earned him high accolades. Car and Driver actually coined it the best automobile commercial of all-time. But, wait, what about Ford? If we are talking about iconic American goods, we’d be remiss to leave Ford out of the equation. After all, wasn’t it Henry Ford who revolutionized the mass production of automobiles for Americans in the first place? Of course it was. And perhaps the most iconic of the iconic vehicles Ford has produced over the years has to be the F-Series pickup truck – a staple in the Dearborn, Michigan, manufacturer’s lineup for 73 years. Yes, that’s right, 73 years my friends.

On The Road 1/22: 2021 Cadillac XT4 AWD - centraljersey com

On The Road 1/22: 2021 Cadillac XT4 AWD × By Peter Perrotta Before the foreign invasion of imported luxury automobiles into the American market, Cadillac once stood as the proud icon of success. If you were lucky enough to own one – big fins and all – it was a sign that you had made it (at least on the surface). Duke Snider, Hall of fame centerfielder for the Brooklyn Dodgers, once said, “My high salary for one season was $46,000 and a Cadillac.” On his 1964 football card, Jim Brown, perhaps the greatest running back ever, posed with his brand new, baby blue ’64 Caddy prominently placed in the background.

On the Road 1/15: 2020 Land Rover Defender 110 SE

× By Peter Perrotta Retro is in. That seems to be the theme these days with some car manufacturers as they harken back to the nostalgic ’40s, ’50s or ’60s to bring back popular iconic models in a repackaged old but new look. Chevy did it with the Camaro. Ford is doing it this year by bringing back the once popular Bronco. Dodge certainly has had much success when this concept by bringing back more modern and stylized versions of the Charger and Challenger. Not to be outdone, Land Rover has reached back into its truck/SUV vault to bring back the iconic Land Rover Defender.

On The Road 1/8: 2021 Nissan Altima 2 5 Platinum AWD

On The Road 1/8: 2021 Nissan Altima 2.5 Platinum AWD × By Peter Perrotta When it comes to Nissan’s Altima – their best-selling sedan – my household is no stranger. When my wife first started to drive, we purchased a pre-owned Altima (1998) that served us well. That vehicle was passed down to my 22-year-old son when he first started to drive. It logged over 150,000 miles without asking for much. After laying the ’98 to rest, we purchased a 2011 pre-owned Altima, several years ago, which we still own and love. That car still runs strong. It only has about 88,000 miles on it and has never needed much maintenance.

On The Road 1/1/2021: 2021 BMW 430i xdrive Coupe

On The Road 1/1/2021: 2021 BMW 430i xdrive Coupe × By Peter Perrotta Well, for the newly designed 2021 BMW 430i xDrive Coupe it is pretty much non-existent. If you turn your head sideways when you look at the front end of the 2021 430i, you can kind of see remnants of the former design. But, in reality, it’s a real stretch. I must admit, I often wondered when BMW was going to switch up from its trademark kidney designed front grille. But, now that its here, I kind of miss the old styled front grille we all got so used to seeing. But time marches on and change is good, so let’s give the new, bigger, bolder front grille design the new 2021 430i xDrive sports a chance to grow on us.
