Motorists seeing petrol prices drop ahead of Christmas21/12/2020|5min
Petrol prices are beginning to fall on the east coast, easing at least some of the costs in the leadup to Christmas.
The NRMA’s Peter Khoury told Sky News while prices were dropping by one or two cents a day, it would be better for consumers to see it drop faster.
“We would like to see falls happening quicker than they have been because historically throughout 2020 what we know is that when the prices go up with the cycle they spike very quickly,” he said.
“And when they fall, they fall at a snail’s pace and that’s what we’re currently seeing, but they are certainly falling in most of the capitals that have price cycles.”

With used car sales surging in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, key safety bodies are urging shoppers to consider the credentials of their secondhand purchases, with a new report ranking the best and worst models.
Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) has released its latest 2020 Used Car Safety Ratings, based on data collected from 8 million vehicles involved in crashes across Australia and New Zealand.
Over 270 models were analysed in the report, which assigned each car a rating between one and five stars – one being the lowest or least safe, five being the highest or most safe.
