A well-known New Zealand sportsman had admitted assaulting his former partner. The man, who has represented New Zealand internationally, was charged with assault and wilful damage, namely intentional damage to a cellphone, after an incident in November. He appeared at the North Shore District Court on Friday where the charges were admitted in front of Judge Peter Winter. The sportsman’s lawyer Hannah Stuart, indicated she would be making an application for a discharge without conviction. Interim name suppression for the sportsman continued and Judge Winter remanded him on bail to appear for sentencing later this year.
