Westpac outlines new pilot employee initiative to support vaccine roll out

Westpac Westpac has today announced a new pilot program designed to help employees in Sydney’s most impacted Local Government Areas (LGAs) to get vaccinated. The pilot includes onsite, workplace vaccination hubs for some employees in South West and Western Sydney. Designed in partnership with the Federal Government’s COVID Shield Taskforce, and complementary to existing Government vaccination programs, the vaccination hubs will provide employees and their households easy access to the AstraZeneca vaccine in each of the eight most impacted LGAs. Westpac CEO Peter King said that while the current outbreak is presenting new and evolving challenges, the health and safety of our people and customers remains top priority.

COVID vaccine Australia: Westpac launches Western Sydney COVID-19 jab program

Aug 4, 2021 – 9.18am Save Share Westpac will begin a pilot program to get coronavirus vaccines into the arms of thousands of employees and their families to help quell the western Sydney outbreak. The bank has designed the scheme in partnership with the federal government’s Operation COVID Shield to complement the existing vaccine rollout. Westpac chief executive Peter King said the health and safety of the bank’s employees was a top priority and said staff would be able to book appointments from August. Westpac’s Peter King “We are committed to doing what we can to get more people jabbed.” 

Commonwealth Bank and Westpac offer Covid vaccines to staff in eight Sydney local government areas

Australia s biggest banks are offering free Covid vaccinations for their staff in Sydney s Covid hotspots. Both the Commonwealth Bank and Westpac are this month offering AstraZeneca jabs to staff members who have to attend a branch in one of eight local government areas hardest hit by this virus outbreak. On Wednesday, New South Wales recorded 233 new community-transmitted cases of the more contagious Delta variant, with Sydney s south-west and west being the epicentre of the outbreak.  The area also has the state s lowest Covid vaccination rate with just 14.6 per cent of residents aged 16 and over fully vaccinated in these outer suburbs.
