There’s a glass ceiling in the Michigan Capitol.
Designed as a glass floor for the building’s rotunda, it’s a big draw for school groups and other Capitol visitors. Little girls lay on it, faces pressed to the cloudy glass to see if they can make out shapes moving one floor down.
But to the women entering below – staff, consultants, public relations professionals, interns, journalists, lobbyists and lawmakers – it’s a visual reminder of what they’re pushing up against.

Michigan Attorney General, Dana Nessel announced that she is not going to take up the suggestion of Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido (and the Republicans in the Legislature) of investigating COVID-19 deaths in care facilities.
According to
Attorney General Dana Nessel told lawmakers she consulted the New York attorney general who is investigating New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s nursing home and data policies before declining a similar review of nursing home policies in Michigan.
The Plymouth Democrat said the Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido’s request for complaints about Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s nursing home policies is a “recipe for misconduct” that smacks of partisanship.

MOUNT CLEMENS March 2 marked 60 days into Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido’s time as chief law enforcement officer.
When asked what his expectations were of the prosecutor job when he took over in January, Lucido recently said the role is to see that victims and their families are served and that customer service is provided.
“Victims never ask to become a victim, but the best thing we can do is try to make them whole,” he said. “We are here to serve the victims and families who come through the office.”
