Belarus attends EUROSAI Congress 2021
MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) - Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov took part in the 11th Congress of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) held via video conference on 14 April, BelTA learned from the State Control Committee.
Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and representatives of international organizations considered reports on the activities of EUROSAI, its working and special groups for the last three years, reports of EUROSAI auditors, as well as the implementation of the EUROSAI Strategic Plan for 2017-2024. “This document defines the strategic goals of the organization: support for the effective, innovative and sound auditing through stimulating professional cooperation, assistance to SAIs in seizing new opportunities and addressing emerging challenges through the development of institutional capacity,” the committee said.

LONDON It was the moment that undoubtedly saved Chaim Herszman’s life. In February 1940, the 13-year-old stabbed and fatally wounded a Nazi guard in the Lodz Ghetto who he believed was about to shoot his younger brother.

The bedtime stories my father told me in our cramped apartment in the gritty Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn sketched a magical, mythical place.
The Snyderman family house, just outside of Pechera in southern Ukraine, was a simple one, with goats often grazing on its grass roof. My father’s descriptions of the snow glistening in the air and the frosty breath of the horse were as vivid to me as Tolstoy’s descriptions of sleigh rides in “War and Peace.”
Then there were his much darker stories of how he and the Jews of Pechera hid from Cossacks among the tombstones of the Jewish cemetery. Hiding among the tombstones was an image I could never shake Why would they do that? And how?
