The state’s indoor dining ban and other COVID-19 mitigations imposed a few weeks ago will expire on schedule Monday, because the state’s case numbers have plateaued and its positivity rate and hospitalizations have declined a little, Gov. Tom Wolf said Wednesday.
“The mitigation efforts have done what we intended,” Wolf said, adding other rules, including mask-wearing and limitations on business capacities, will remain in effect.
The reprieve was largely unexpected, according to Joe Hurd, Blair County Chamber of Commerce CEO.
“The businesses I’ve talked to in the past couple weeks, the general theme was, ‘there’s no way he’s going to lift this, ” Hurd said. “We were not at all getting our hopes up that anything positive was likely.”
