It took Keith Ransom 62 seconds to become a district champion. And the Mexico 126-pounder didn’t really need that much of the clock.
The top seed in his weight at Saturday’s Class 2 District 4 tournament at The Sports Complex in Mexico, Ransom received a bye into the title round. He quickly scored takedown points against Fulton’s Kaden Barnes, and then added more to go up 6-0. Only then did he turn his attention to pinning his opponent.

Many school districts around Mid-Missouri have canceled classes ahead of another round of snow.
Some school districts, which had initially called in snow routes or late starts, have since decided to close for the day.
Helias Catholic School, Cole County R-V in Eugene, Latham R-V, California R-I and many others decided to cancel school. Some districts like Eldon R-I and Jamestown C-I initially decided they would still have classes but later closed instead.
Jefferson City School District, Fulton Public Schools and Camdenton R-III have also closed down for the day.

Question of the Day
The Jefferson City News-Tribune, Jan. 19
The vaccination rollout has gone slower than expected, but we’re encouraged that the county’s health department, along with area schools, are planning for vaccination clinics for school staff members.
On Sunday, we reported it’s still unclear when school staff will have the opportunity to get vaccinated, but that county/school officials are starting to plan for clinics.
TOP STORIES
We hope the clinics come sooner than later. School teachers/staffers are essentially front-line workers, and we’ve previously editorialized in support of them being among the first to receive the vaccine.

KANSAS CITY The Missouri Football Coaches Association in December released its list of award winners.
Four Valle Catholic High School players received the distinction of Class 3 all-state, with wide receiver Aiden Heberlie attaining first-team status.
Austin Burnett was selected as a second-team linebacker while Chase Fallert was named third-team quarterback and Kolten Naeger third-team kicker.
“Making all-state is hard to do,” said Valle Catholic head coach Judd Naeger. “Making it in Class 3 is even harder. All of these young men are truly deserving.”
While Ste. Genevieve didn’t produce any all-state players this year, the Dragons were still represented on other honor teams.
