PEARL, Miss. (WDAM) The University of Southern Mississippi limited the nation’s second-ranked college baseball team to four runs Wednesday night at Trustmark Park.
Unfortunately for the Golden Eagles, USM managed just three more baserunners in nine innings than what Mississippi State University’ sent across home plate.
Four MSU pitchers combined to check the Golden Eagles on three hits and strike out 20 USM batters as the Bulldogs took a 4-1 victory.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) Gabe Montenegro came up with a nice start to the game when he sent the first pitch he saw Friday night over the fence in left-center field for the 10th home run of his University of Southern Mississippi baseball career.
Montenegro managed to top that in his final at-bat of the night.
The junior outfielder ripped a two-run double just inside the first-base bag in the bottom of the eighth inning that rallied USM to a 6-5 victory over the University of Connecticut at Pete Taylor Park.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - University of Southern Mississippi outfielder Reed Trimble hit three-run home runs in consecutive innings as the Golden Eagles run-ruled Northwestern State University 10-0 in seven innings Monday afternoon at Petet Taylor Park.
Sophomore left-hander Drew Boyd allowed two hits in five scoreless innings as the Golden Eagles (2-1) took the rubber match of the season-opening three-game series against the visiting Demons (1-2).
