On Unemployment? Find a Job in Michigan and Get $1000

Yes you heard that right. Covid-19 relief money has shown up in Michigan and The House wants to give you $1000, if you are unemployed and find a job. The Michigan Legislature says “return to work” grants would take care of about 400,000 Michiganders. They are included in supplemental budget bills that either took a step forward in the Republican-led House Appropriations Committee or advanced to the House floor, but are a ways off from being enacted because there is no deal with Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. All but $1 billion in funding would come from federal coronavirus packages that were approved in March and December.

AG Private Activity Bond Financing Approved as Part of Flint Water SettlementContact: Lynsey Mukomel 517-599-2746Agency: Attorney General April 27, 2021 LANSING - The Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF) board today approved the authorization of private activity bond financing as part of the Flint water settlement.  The settlement was agreed to last year by the State parties and the plaintiffs legal counsel following more than 18 months of negotiations. It received preliminary approval by the court earlier this year.  Through that negotiated settlement agreement, and subsequent bipartisan legislation, the MSF was identified to facilitate the transaction and issue the bonds that will finance the settlement over a 30-year period. The newly-created Flint Water Advocacy Fund will borrow the settlement funds through the MSF and transfer the funds to the settlement administrator, per the agreement.

Former AG Cox says Nessel should show cards in case against Snyder

Mike Cox Attorney General Dana Nessel once called former Gov. Rick Snyder a soulless monster.  While campaigning for office in 2018, Nessel made it clear she would investigate Snyder for criminal wrongdoing. Last year, worried about published reports that suggested she might go easy on Snyder, Nessel took to Twitter to let her followers know that idea was “fantastical” and “deeply offensive” to her because “I have such contempt for the way he handled state government during his eight-year tenure as governor of the state”.  When President Trump spent four years chanting “lock her up” about Hillary Clinton, career prosecutors and civil libertarians alike worried that Trump would push his Department of Justice to prosecute Ms. Clinton out of political spite. They rightfully feared the DOJ would become a tool of political reprisal.  Yet Trump’s DOJ never charged Clinton.
