Dieppe Firefighter Injured In Blanchard Street Duplex Fire

(Photo: courtesy of Lee Gallant) Seven people have been displaced after a duplex fire on Blanchard Street in Dieppe. The fire was reported at around 7:30pm Monday night. Dieppe Fire Platoon Chief Denis Roberge says when they arrived, there was fire in the front and in the attic of the house. Twenty-three firefighters helped to quickly extinguish the blaze. One firefighter had to be taken to hospital for precautionary reasons. The home was significantly damaged. Codiac Transpo was also on scene to help keep displaced residents warm. The Canadian Red Cross arranged emergency lodging for meal for three adults and three children from one unit.

JEFF CORCINO jcorcino@theprogressnews.com CLEARFIELD A Lock Haven man who fired two shots at state troopers while fleeing arrest pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve a total 10-20 years in state prison by Judge Paul Cherry this week at Sentencing Court. Quintin Michael Titus, 26, pleaded guilty to several charges including criminal attempt criminal homicide, felony of the first degree, two counts, and was fined $1 plus costs, and serve a minimum of seven years and a maximum of 14 years in state prison; firearms not to be carried without a license, felony of the third degree, and was fined $1 plus costs, and serve a minimum of three years and a maximum of six years in state prison consecutive to the previous sentence.

Two housing developments that include apartments set aside for adults with developmental disabilities are in the works for Milwaukee s near west side and Wauwatosa. Both are being proposed by Watertown-based Bethesda Lutheran Communities Inc., a nonprofit group that provides services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In Milwaukee, Bethesda Cornerstone Village would be developed at 3200 W. Highland Blvd.  That building would be demolished and replaced by a five-story building with 68 apartments, Campbell said Monday.
