HARIPUR: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said the government was taking effective steps to preserve the environment for the coming generations.
The premier was addressing a Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Program event where he said it was a huge achievement for the government that it would be hosting the next World Environment Day .
PM Khan said it reflected that his government had taken steps to protect the environment, adding that it was a worrying sign that Pakistan was included in the list of 10 countries that are worse affected from climate change.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host World Environment Day 2021 globally for the first time in history with Prime Minister Imran Khan heading a climate change conference on June 04 to highlight the country’s effective policy in this regard, ARY NEWS reported.
This year’s observance of World Environment Day with the collaboration of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) will be on the theme of ‘ecosystem restoration’ and focus on resetting our relationship with nature. It will also mark the formal launch of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021 – 2030.
Only four people are invited to participate in the conference with Prime Minister Imran Khan chairing the global summit on the environment, which would also be attended by the secretary-general of the United Nations (UN), Pope, and German Chancellor.

Islamabad : Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has said that the incumbent government is taking all-out coping measures to address deleterious impacts of global climate crisis on the country’s socio-economic sectors for achieving environmental and economic sustainability.
In a press statement issued here on Sunday, he explained that the measures being taken under the Prime Minister s world-acclaimed vision for Clean Green Pakistan include nation-wide massive tree plantation and protection activities, promotion of renewable energy, shelving of coal-based energy projects, promotion of electric vehicles, mass transit system, establishment of new national parks and protection of the existing ones and launch of US$ 500 million green euro bond for overall ecosystem restoration in the country.
