Liverpool Labour mayoral selection options emerge after chaos
Sources suggest party will look to figures away from the council after embarrassing selection fiasco

Labour s attempt to find a new candidate for Mayor of Liverpool spiralled into chaos and confusion yesterday. Having selected three women for its final shortlist of candidates, the party suddenly announced that it would be re-opening applications for the role and effectively told the three women not to bother applying.
That decision came after days of silence and confusion following on from the shortlisted candidates being invited back in for second interviews.
