Viral Photo of Earth, Venus and Jupiter Seen From Mars Is a Computer Image

Since NASA s Perseverance rover touched down on the surface of Mars last week, social media users have claimed the rover took a photo of Earth, Venus, and Jupiter lined up in Mars skyline. But these claims are false.
The image was probably computer-generated using planetarium software in order to recreate an event in which the three planets did indeed align from Mars perspective. But that happened eleven years ago, and no-one got a photo of it.
One tweet, posted on Tuesday, showed the photo with the caption: Earth, Venus and Jupiter as seen from Mars. At the time of writing it had received 35,000 likes and over 5,300 retweets.
Videos are trending on social media showing people holding a flame to snowballs in a bid to ‘prove’ it is fake.

The recent snowstorms were actually predicted many weeks before by meterologists, who say it s linked to a phenomenon known as Sudden Stratrospheric Warming. This happens when the Arctic warms rapidly, disrupting a mass of cold air.

Another clip shared on the video-sharing platform showed a girl collecting a snowball from her lawn and then trying to light it with a tealight candle. When she found the ball was not melting, she claimed the conspiracy theory is right. One more video posted on TikTok showed a person using a hair-dryer on a snowball and claiming, âIt s not melting. However, the truth is snowballs reacting to fire like this is completely normal and natural and this process is called sublimation - transformation of a substance from the solid to the gas state, without transitioning into the liquid state.
