Superhero Hype’s Top 10 TV Shows of 2020
Thank god this garbage year is almost over. Because of the pandemic, going to the movies was off limits for most of 2020. Fortunately, there were a lot of TV shows to keep us from going crazy in our own homes.
Every year, the Superhero Hype staff picks their favorite television series from the sci-fi, comic book, fantasy, and superhero genres. If it was opened up for TV programs from all genres, then
Better Call Saul would have been pretty high on the list. Regardless, these are the shows in our wheelhouse that really captured our attention in the last 12 months. Not every superhero series is created equal, and some programs may be conspicuous by their absence. Read into that what you will.

Knives Out is a miraculous film for many reasons, but chief among them is Trooper Wagner, the junior officer of the team investigating mystery author Harlan Thrombey’s suicide/possible murder. Rather than writing yet another good cop/bad cop or by the books/rogue cop dynamic, Rian Johnson gives us Detective Lieutenant Elliott, laconic and deadpan in the face of the Thrombey family’s privileged cluelessness, paired with with Trooper Wagner, a starstruck fan of both Thrombey’s mystery novels and Mr. Benoit Blanc, Gentleman Detective. Trooper Wagner doesn’t even
try to investigate the crime he’s much too excited to just sit back and watch it unfold around him, like his very own murder mystery dinner party.

The Pulse:
A very gory issue, but added depth to the lead. Two of my faves in one issue: Taskmaster and the Squadron Supreme. Decent art.
Secret Invasion hides in plain sight in the post-credits scene ending
Spider-Man: Far From Home. After keeping watch over Spider-Man (Tom Holland) during his school field trip to Europe in the wake of
Avengers: Endgame, super-spies Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) are revealed as shapeshifting Skrulls: Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) and Soren (Sharon Blynn). The husband and wife are undercover and keeping an eye on things for the
real Fury, who we learn is off-world working with the Skrulls nearly 30 years after the events of
Captain Marvel.
The post-credits scene opens with the camera holding on Skrull Fury and Skrull Hill s license plate HNM 620II referencing
