Chua apologizes over national ID hiccup

Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick T. Chua on Monday, May 3, took full responsibility for the technical glitch that marred the online registration for national ID during its pilot launching on April 30, Friday. I take full responsibility,” Chua said during an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel.

NEDA starts PhilSys online registration

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Apr. 30 (PIA) – The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or much known as the national identification (ID) system has started its online registration today, April 30. The said online registration was announced on Wednesday by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) which is the lead agency in the implementation of the program. According to NEDA-1 regional director Nestor Rillon during the Kapihan sa Ilocos program held on April 29, the online registration is part of the implementation of the PhilSys which is aimed to easily provide assistance to  citizens especially during this time of pandemic. “The online registration is only the first step to avail of the national ID and in registering online, basic details will be asked of the person and this information will still be verified onsite,” Rillon added.

PSA encounters glitch amid high volume of requests in first day of Nat l ID online registration

(PHILIPPINE STATISTICS AUTHORITY) “We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the downtime of the pilot launch of the PhilSys (Philippine Identification System) online Step 1 Registration website earlier today (April 30),” PSA said in a statement. It pointed out that the agency received more than 40,000 registration requests during the first minutes of the pilot launch. “This caused delays in the sending of the one-time passwords (OTPs) necessary to proceed with the registration,” PSA said. “We are urgently looking into the issue and updating the website to resolve this technical challenge,” it added. PSA said it will provide an update on its PhilSys Facebook page as soon as the website is once again operational.
