Way, which celebrated its 10th anniversary Sunday, now has a day honoring its success in one American city.
In a proclamation, West Hollywood Mayor
Lindsey P. Horvath announced that May 23 will now be known as âBorn This Way Dayâ and presented the Grammy-winning singer with a key to the city.
Said the mayor of Gagaâs contributions, âThank you for encouraging us to love ourselves and be proud!â
The city also marked the occasion with a street painting on Robertson Blvd thatâs a tribute to the LGBTQIA+ community and the album: It reads âBorn This Wayâ in rainbow-striped letters. The painting will be made available for public viewing until Pride Month ends on June 30.

Born This Way Day. The official civic holiday celebrating the cultural impact of the landmark album the singer released on May 23, 2011, including a street mural and the presentation of a key to the city by W. Hollywood mayor Lindsey P. Horvath.

Lady Gaga was awarded West Hollywood’s Key to the City on Born This Way Day (23.05.21).
A decade after the release of her acclaimed 2011 studio album, ‘Born This Way’, the 35-year-old pop megastar’s chart-topping LP has been honoured for its cultural impact.
West Hollywood Mayor Lindsey P. Horvath presented the Grammy-winner with the key to the city and declared May 23 to be Born This Way Day.
Horvath told Gaga: “Thank you for encouraging us to love ourselves and be proud!”
A painting of the album’s title in pride flag form was unveiled on Robertson Boulevard in honour of the LGBTQIA+ community, and the ‘Stupid Love’ hitmaker vowed to “always be here for this day”.
