A Tuckerton man has been arrested for allegedly pointing a laser at a New Jersey State Police helicopter assisting with a missing persons search, police said.
The incident happened on the night of May 5 when troopers from the Troop C Tuckerton Station and the State Police Aviation Unit were helping Toms River police with the investigation, according to a Facebook post from the State Police.
Aviation troopers flying over Bass River in Burlington County saw someone on the ground pointing a laser at their helicopter about 10:42 p.m. Troopers Michael Jiampetti and Brian Harper spotted the suspect getting into a vehicle in the area where the laser originated, police said.
