EASTHAMPTON Supporters of former President Donald Trump, advocates for free speech and critics of socialism held a rally at Pulaski Park on Thursday evening, citing a variety of concerns about the direction of the country under the Biden administration.
With more than a dozen people demonstrating, some attendees held pro-police “Back the Blue” signs or expressed their support for the former president’s hard-line immigration policies, while others said they were afraid of losing personal liberties like the right to reject the COVID-19 vaccine.

NORTHAMPTON City Council President Gina-Louise Sciarra is in a dominant financial position over seven other candidates who have either announced their candidacies or taken out nomination papers for mayor in November’s election.
Sciarra has received $20,430 in donations and has $12,016 on hand, according to the latest fundraising report from the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance. To date, none of her opponents have raised a comparable amount, and several have raised nothing. Candidate Shanna Fishel has raised the second highest amount of money, with $10,867 in campaign donations.
