THE Parish Priest of Moyross says people in the area feel “abandoned, cheated and used” by Transport Minister Eamon Ryan over a €58m road-link.
Fr Pat Hogan says locals in the northside community feel “a sense of betrayal” after the Green Party leader failed to fully commit to the Northern Distributor Road project.
One element of this, linking Coonagh and Knockalisheen, is seen as vital for Moyross and has cross-community support.
Local councillors and the Limerick Chamber have also piled the pressure on Mr Ryan, saying the road is crucial in opening up Moyross so it’s no longer a cul-de-sac, and providing employment to the area.

GREEN Party TD Brian Leddin has defended the fact he did not present at the oral hearing into Irish Cement’s €10m plan for Limerick.
Mr Leddin was the city’s only Dail representative who did not address the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) inquiry into the firm’s proposals for its site in Mungret.
However, local Green councillor Sasa Novak – who replaced Mr Leddin upon his elevation to the Oireachtas – spoke, as did Claire Keating, a member of Limerick Against Pollution, who also ran for the party in February’s general election.

NEWLY elected Green TDs Brian Leddin and Marc Ó Cathasaigh are the best of pals.
The pair shared a flat during the intense government negotiations of the spring, and both have since been appointed to top positions in their party, Mr Leddin as chair, Mr Ó Cathasaigh as Green party whip and assistant government whip.
But come Sunday afternoon, there will be no love lost in the pair, as Mr Leddin cheers on Limerick in the hope they make it two Liam MacCarthy cups in three years, while Waterford TD Mr Ó Cathasaigh hopes the Deise end what he describes as “one of the GAA’s great famines”.
