Advertisement Number of Covid-19 cases remain in the mid-twenties Posted: 11:57 am May 27, 2021 SHARE THE NUMBER of Covid-19 cases being reported in Donegal on a daily basis remains in the mid-twenties which has prompted health officials to urge the public not to become complacent as the reopening of the county continues. The HSE hack means geographical breakdowns of Covid cases each day are no longer available from the Department of Health. To get an insight into the current situation we spoke to Dr Anthony Breslin, Public Health Specialist for the HSE North West, who confirmed that the figures remain generally in the mid-twenties with the Letterkenny area remaining high.

New councillors promise to follow example of Richard Welch, who died last year

THE Conservatives won two of the three by-elections at last week’s local elections with the third taken back by the Independent councillor who was expelled from the seat last year for not attending meetings during the coronavirus lockdown. Conservative, David Staveley, who already sits on Craven District Council, where he is chairman of the Select Committee, won the Ribblesdale division seat of North Yorkshire County Council, the seat previously occupied by his ‘friend and mentor’, the late Cllr Richard Welch. His fellow Conservative, Robert Ogden, was voted onto Cllr Welch’s old Penyghent seat of Craven District Council, while David Pighills, Independent, reclaimed his old Barden Fell seat on the district council.
