HAZEL PARK/WARREN Four people are in jail awaiting charges after they led police on a car chase across three cities. The chase started when police received word that someone in the suspect vehicle had fired a gun at another vehicle traveling behind them.
The incident, described in a police report as a case of road rage, occurred at 2:05 p.m. April 12 in the area of Woodward Heights Boulevard and Couzens Avenue.
The victims were two Hazel Park men, ages 50 and 29. They were not injured. The shots were allegedly fired in their direction but did not strike them or their vehicle.
The late K-9 Officer Lando is being remembered for heroic deeds such as the time he helped rescue a missing boy in River Rouge. He was popular with residents, who voted for him in a nationwide contest that won the Hazel Park Police Department a new patrol vehicle.

Now Lando, the Dutch shepherd who served for more than five years on Hazel Park’s K-9 unit, has passed away, and the community is paying its respects.
