Crosby said the Penguins got a lot of energy from goaltender Tristan Jarry, who was solid from the start.
Crosby says the Penguins needed the points, as they are one point out of first place in a tightly-packed NHL East.
The win puts the Penguins into a second-place tie with the Islanders, who earned a point in a 1-0 shootout loss to the first-place Capitals. Elsewhere in the East, the fourth-place Bruins won as well, 5-1, over Buffalo, while the Flyers beat the Rangers, 3-2.
Sullivan did not say anything about injured center Evgeni Malkin yesterday but did say that injured winger Brandon Tanev has resumed skating. Malkin is out with a lower body injury thought to be a knee. Tanev is out with an upper body injury.
