An entire other world is out there, though, and driving significant change in how healthcare is delivered. Brian Jordan, head of innovation and industry solutions at Cisco Ireland, said that the potential for health wearables to deliver data right from the patient or patient’s home has opened up a range of possibilities in care. It starts with sensors. “Sensors exist to measure blood pressure, heart rates, heart rhythms, blood sugar levels, temperature, oxygen levels and many more.”

Clarkdale High welcomes back school choir

Bianca Moorman/The Meridian Star Clarkdale High Choir Director Caleb Landrum directs Presleigh Eakes, Allie Wyman, Paisley Ivey, Brianna Moore, Camryn Gray and Adilyn Way.   The Star-Spangled Banner and Carol of the Bells are just two songs Clarkdale High School students enjoy singing during choir class each day. For the first time since 2013, the school has a choir program. Northeast and West Lauderdale High schools already have programs. Clarkdale Band Director Caleb Landrum said principal Brian Jordan wanted to re-establish the school choir, but needed someone to teach the class. Landrum was teaching English in another school district and took the Clarkdale job so he could finally use his music degree.

Board of Education approves superintendent job search agreement with KASB

The Emporia Public Schools Board of Education officially began the search for USD 253’s new superintendent Wednesday, approving a job search agreement with the Kansas Association of School Boards. “Right now in Kansas, we’re at about 25 [superintendent] openings, which is up from where it typically is at this time of year… ” said KASB Deputy Executive Director Brian Jordan. “In a heavier year, we’ve been at around 12-15 openings at this time… The COVID pandemic stress has taken a toll on educators across the state, and I think it’s contributing to that. The good news is that … there really aren’t a lot of other districts [searching] in your region that are of a similar size.”

Brian Jordan Jr. plays a hilarious character, Maurice Webb, on Tyler Perry’s “Sistas.” The second season was released this fall, and a new episode will be released tonight, Dec. 9, on BET. “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes spoke with Jordan Jr. about his character and the importance of LGBTQ+ and Black representation on television. “Sistas” was the first primetime scripted series to be entirely filmed during a pandemic and then broadcasted on air. The entire second season was filmed in only fourteen days. Perry created “Camp Quarantine” at Tyler Perry Studios to ensure the safety of the actors and crew during production.
