A Sydney judge has quit as president of a controversial union charity, blaming a split with the board over its future direction.
The exit of Michael Finnane QC comes as the benefactors of the Construction Industry Drug and Alcohol Foundation demand an explanation over why its accounts were red-flagged by auditors.

CFMEU claims deals with Lendlease, Multiplex

Nine builders, including top-tier contractors Lendlease, Multiplex and John Holland, have reached in-principle deals with the CFMEU on its controversial new industry agreement in NSW, according to the union.
The deals, which include high pay rises and strict rostered days off, threaten a blowout in construction costs, but at least three of the builders have denied the claims and accused the union of spreading misinformation.

The Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union has distributed a list to subcontractors, naming for the first time the builders with which it said it had reached agreement.

Top-tier builders in NSW are facing pressure to declare whether they will sign up to the CFMEU s huge pay rises and restrictive days off just as the NSW government warns that taxpayers will have to foot the bill for the union s claims.
The Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union is understood to have demanded Lendlease, John Holland, CPB, Laing O Rourke and Watpac publicly state their position on the union s controversial new enterprise agreement by Wednesday, ahead of a push by parts of the industry for non-union agreements.
