Ingrid Messenger danger driver was well over the speed limit

A MOTORIST who caused the death of a 13-year-old north Cumbrian schoolgirl by dangerous driving has been jailed for four-and-a-half years. Tony Packenham, 47, admitted causing the death of Ingrid Messenger in a crash near Ivegill, on February 18 last year. He also admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving to both the mother of Ingrid Messenger and her 15-year-old sister, Erica. At Carlisle Crown Court last week, Packenham admitted a fourth charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice by discarding a dashcam memory card which had recorded his Land Rover Defender travelling “at speed” in the moments before the fatal collision with the other car.
