Voters will head to the polls to elect a new MP for Chesham & Amersham on 17 June in a by-election following the death of Dame Cheryl Gillan.
Former Welsh Secretary, Dame Cheryl, who died at the age of 68 on 4 April after a long illness, had served as Conservative MP since she was first elected in 1992.
What do we know about the seat?
Historically, Chesham & Amersham has been one of the safer Conservative seats and has had two long-serving two MPs in 47 years since the Buckinghamshire seat was created in 1974.
Rams off to best start at 12-0; Murphy closes in on state record
The countdown to the record continues this week for Rio Rancho High School baseball coach Ron Murphy, and as long as his Rams win their game at Cibola on Tuesday, he’ll be set to tie the state record of 581 victories, held by longtime Bloomfield coach John Gutierrez.
Murphy picked up his 579th career win Wednesday afternoon at Atrisco Heritage Academy in the Rams’ district 1-5A opener. A win over the Cougars would be No. 580.
Here’s the kicker: Murphy would be poised to match Gutierrez this coming Friday, when the Rams entertain Cleveland High and with wins May 21 vs. Cibola and this Tuesday at Volcano Vista, Storm coach Shane Shallenberger would be aiming at his 300th career win.
