Wicked Local MANSFIELD – The death of a 32-year-old Norton woman who was struck by an Acela train this past weekend was a suicide, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office. The woman was struck by a southbound train near the commuter rail station around 6:43 a.m. Saturday, July 24. The tracks were closed for just under two hours, Mansfield Deputy Police Chief Michael Ellsworth said. Then the northbound track was reopened to full speed and the southbound reopened at low speed at the direction of Amtrak personnel. Mansfield police and firefighters responded to the scene along with Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Police, Amtrak Police and Massachusetts State Police detectives from the Bristol Count District Attorney’s office.
