Senior Grace Gunneson had four goals and an assist in UIndy’s 12-9 win over former No. 1 Lindenwood.
For the first time this season, there’s a new team at the top of the Nike / US Lacrosse Division II Women’s Top 20.
With a 12-9 win over former No. 1 Lindenwood in Sunday’s GLVC championship game, Indianapolis has claimed the top spot in the ranking for the first time in the poll’s history. The Greyhounds avenged their only loss of the season, 10 days ago at Lindenwood, by scoring the first four goals of the second half to seize control in Sunday’s GLVC final.

In a rare regular-season matchup of 1-v-2, Lindenwood tightened its grip on the top spot in the Nike / US Lacrosse Division II Women’s Top 20 by defeating Indianapolis 12-10 last Thursday. Six goals from Emma Arnold and four from Lexy Biller helped the Lions hold off then-No. 2 UIndy. A rematch is likely looming this week, as these two teams begin play as the top two seeds in the inaugural GLVC championship tournament.
There are a few other conference tournaments that are also set to begin, including the NE10 tournament and the PSAC tournament. No. 2 Le Moyne is the clear favorite in the NE10, while the PSAC event features three members of this week’s top 10 No. 4 West Chester, No. 7 East Stroudsburg and No. 8 Seton Hill. The undefeated Griffins were one of the big climbers in this week’s Top 20, as they join the top 10 for the first time this year.

For the first time this season, there were no changes in the Nike / US Lacrosse Division II Women’s Top 20, with all the teams holding their positions from last week. As they have done virtually all year, Lindenwood, UIndy, Le Moyne, and West Chester continue to occupy the top four slots. They are four of the seven remaining undefeated squads in the Top 20, along with No. 13 Seton Hill, No. 15 Roberts Wesleyan, and No. 16 St. Anselm.
The week ahead features some of the best matchups of the season, including Thursday’s highly anticipated clash between No. 1 Lindenwood and No. 2 Indianapolis. The winner will claim the top seed for the inaugural Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship Tournament (April 30-May 2) and will undoubtably enter the tournament as the nation’s top-ranked team.

The big four at the top of the Nike / US Lacrosse Division II Women’s Top 20 continue to bulldoze opponents, but there’s a new team in the No. 5 spot this week and another newcomer in the top 10.
Lindenwood, Indianapolis, Le Moyne, and West Chester hold steady once again in the top four spots, and undefeated Limestone moved up one spot to No. 5 this week. Those top five teams are a combined 32-0 thus far.
The biggest climb was made by No. 7 Florida Southern, which jumped five spots after taking down then-No. 5 Tampa last week. The Mocs have returned to a familiar position as the apparent front runners in the SSC once again.
