Benton Charter Township Police Department investigating deadly armed robbery By: Kate Luce
The robbery took place at the Briarwood Apartments just after 11:30 pm.
Witnesses say it started as an armed robbery and then heard gunshots. Two men were hit by the gunfire, according to the report.
Officers identified one of the men hit by the gunfire as 20-year-old Miquan Davis. Davis was in the passenger seat of a vehicle when he was struck in the chest by the gunfire.
The driver took Davis to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to officers.
The other victim was identified as 18-year-old James Parker-Hersey. He told detectives that he was standing outside when he realized he had been shot in the hip. He is expected to recover from his injuries.
