The City of Nelson is holding a By-Election for the vacant council seat after former councilor Brittny Anderson resigned to sit as the NDP MLA for the Nelson-Creston riding in the BC Legislature in Victoria.
Three candidates Nicole Charlwood, Josh Wapp and Brenton Raby will be on the ballot when Nelsonites go to the polls on Saturday, March 27th.

On International Women s Day, Nelson-Creston MLA Brittny Anderson marked the day with a trip to speak in the BC Legislature.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, BC MLAs have been improvising the day-to-day practice of sitting in the BC Legislature.
Monday was Anderson’s first time physically participating in the historical BC Legislature.

“The new Nakusp Child Care Centre hub will help address what has been described as a ‘child care desert’ in our community,” said Terry Taylor, superintendent, School District 10. “The hub will give kids the start they deserve, while also creating opportunities for young people in our community to gain experience as early childhood educators. Parents and families are excited about the new opportunities for high-quality licensed child care that the Nakusp Child Care Centre hub will bring.”
The Columbia Basin Trust also provided funding for all four projects to help create more child care spaces for families in the Kootenays.
