Over the past 12 months, the IAG share price is still down a whopping 73%. And even before the Covid-19 pandemic struck, IAG shares had been moving pretty much sideways for around five years. The airline sector can be a volatile one too, subject to numerous possible short-term shocks. My usual rule of thumb is that I will only buy a share if I intend to hold it for at least five years. But for more potentially volatile stocks, like airlines, I’d extend that to at least 10 years.

LONDON - British Airways on Tuesday unveiled a partnership with US startup LanzaJet to produce jet fuel aimed at cutting carbon emissions from 2022.
The announcement comes as the global aviation industry is looking to bounce back from a collapse in demand caused by the coronavirus pandemic grounding planes. Despite the crisis in global aviation, it is vital for our future that we continue to address climate change and we remain focused on playing our part to reduce the impact we have on the planet, BA chief executive Sean Doyle said in a statement.
Stark footage has captured the derelict remains of British Airways once-thriving training facility.
The Cranebank centre, near Heathrow, was used to train some 17,000 cabin crew and 4,000 pilots, equipping them for emergencies on its Boeing 737 simulator.
But passenger seats, cabin furnishings and classrooms now sit covered in moss in the mothballed centre.
