Mercedes-Benz sales have rebounded following the difficulties of 2020 with the German car manufacturer revealing it delivered 590,999 passenger vehicles in the first quarter of the year. In total, 581,270 vehicles were sold by Mercedes-Benz itself, a 21.8 per increase from Q1 2020, while Smart contributed to 9,729 sales, a massive 65.9 per cent increase from the first quarter of 2020. Sales of commercial models from Mercedes-Benz Vans also spiked by 18.2 per cent to 76,328 vehicles. Sales were particularly strong in China, which accounted for no less than 222,520 sales, a 60.1 per cent jump over Q1 2020; in January alone, sales in China almost reached 100,000 vehicles. Despite ongoing lockdown measures across many markets in Europe, sales rose by 1.8 per cent over Q1 2020. Mercedes-Benz also sold 88,318 vehicles in North America last quarter, a 12.5 per cent increase. Of these, 78,256 passenger cars were delivered in the U.S.
