Authorities Monday morning identified Cameron Rodrigues as the 19-year-old New Bedford man ejected from a car and killed on Route 140 over the weekend, noting police are seeking more information from the public about the crash.
Officers responded to the northbound side of the highway near Braley Road in New Bedford around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after a driver called 911 to report the crash, according to a statement from the Bristol District Attorney’s Office.
Rodrigues was found lying in the middle of the roadway. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at later Saturday at St. Luke’s Hospital.

A victim was pronounced dead after an early morning crash Saturday, Massachusetts State Police announced in a press release.
At 2:28 a.m. Saturday, Troopers assigned to the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks responded to a report of a car into the woods next to the off ramp from Route 140 northbound to Braley Road (Exit 7), New Bedford, state police announced in a news release. New Bedford Fire and EMS also responded.
First responders located a 2019 Kia Optima sedan with a Massachusetts registration that had crashed off the ramp, struck a metal post, and then hit a tree partially into the woods, the release said. Three bystanders were providing medial aid to the victim, a 19-year-old New Bedford man went to St Luke’s Hospital with serious injuries.
