The Upper East Regional Police Command has acquired three new Yamaha Motorbikes to augment the motorbike patrols in the Bolgatanga Divisional and Zuarungu Police Commands as a strategy to combat crimes, particularly armed robberies.
The motorbikes valued at GH¢31,400 would add to the existing fleet at the Police Motorbike Patrol Unit to be able to clamp down on criminals that use unregistered motorbikes to embark on robbery operations in some unmotorable parts of the Region.

Briefing Graphic Online on the motorbike patrol exercise, the Public Affairs Officer of the Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP),Mr David Fianko-Okyere, stated that plans were advanced to operationalize the Regional Highway Patrol Unit of the service by the first of next month(June 1,2021).

32 Alleged Galamsey National Security Operatives Caged LISTEN

Some 32 alleged national security operatives, arrested for allegedly mining at the Akateng Forest in the Eastern Region, have been remanded into custody by the Koforidua Circuit Court B .
They have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime, namely conducting reconnaissance for mining and conducting reconnaissance for mines and minerals without lawful authority.
The court did not take their pleas. They are expected to reappear on May 24.
The court, presided by Mrs Mercy Kotey, said investigations were underway and the accused could interfere with the process when granted bail.
Defence counsels for the accused took turns to pray for their bail.
Tema police record 58 robberies, 3 attempted murders

The Tema Regional Police Command in the first quarter of 2021, has recorded 58 robbery cases and three attempted murder cases.
The robberies, involved car snatching, one street robbery, 51 residential robberies, three workplace robberies, and two highway robberies.
Chief Inspector Stella Dede Dzakpasu, Acting Public Relations Officer for the Tema Regional Police, told the Ghana News Agency, that one of the attempted murder case was before court and two others under investigation.
She said three cases of abduction of children under 18 years were also under investigation.
Chief Insp Dzakpasu said the Domestic Violence Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Regional Police Command recorded 15 cases, involving three defilements cases, two duties to maintain a child, two emotional, verbal, psychological abuse, seven cases of failing to maintain a child and one rape.
One dead, five injured in clashes between farmers and Fulani herdsmen in Oti Region LISTEN

One person has been confirmed dead with five others badly injured in a confrontation between farmers and herdsmen in Attakron in the Buem Constituency of the Oti Region.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) John Nchor, Acting Oti Regional Public Affairs Officer, Ghana Police Service, in a release disclosed that the confrontation ensued between some Fulani herdsmen and natives on April 25, 2021.
He said the natives found the Fulani cattle grazing their farms causing considerable damage to their crops.
The Officer said in the process, Prosper Amegavi, 42, a native and four Fulani herdsmen namely; Osmanu Abubakar, 40, Ayuba Yussif, 30, Adam Mohammadu, 44, and Iddrisu Mohammed, 29, sustained injuries.
