Health authorities have approved a formal request to transfer a Covid-19 patient from Fiji 29 July 2021
The Auckland DHBs say they will treat the patient, and the Regional Public Health Service and Air Ambulance Service have agreed to the transfer plan.
The medevac flight from New Zealand will return this afternoon.
The Ministry of Health says which hospital will take the patient isn t yet confirmed - and will be determined by the treatment required, and the hospitals intensive care capacity.
It says the request was initially declined for space reasons, but because ICU capacity is fluid - treatment can now be provided.
